Roll Call!

Actual Class Transcript

And so it starts.  The first day of class, as illustrated in this post, is always a strange one.  So as not to beat a dead horse (who came up with that phrase, by the way?  Seriously.), I’ll just say that it went very well, except for the fact that with the class being filmed, I feel a certain pressure to be precise.  I’m sure that it’s a good thing on the whole, but day-one is always a little chaotic.  Papers flying.  Thoughts spinning.  It’s never a true indication of what’s to come.

It also makes me feel like an arrogant prick.

As you can imagine, one of the most common questions I get is, “how did you get the name ‘Pinky?’”  I figure that it’s best to get that story on the record right out of the gate, which leads to how I made my way from booking independent bands in San Francisco to building mainstream brands in Nashville.

As proud as I am of that journey, by the time my story comes to an end I have spent at least 45 minutes talking all about me and how awesome this class is and how exciting it must be for these students to bask in my very presence.  (And it totally is.)  I’m just hopeful that these videos feel more educational than ego-centric.  Time will tell.

Day one is in the books.
