A New Twitter Layout Is Coming!

A new version of Twitter.com was just announced in a beautiful, well-conceived video on YouTube.com. First showing September 14th as the “Big Night!,” then more subtly displaying 9:14 on an alarm clock, the camera pans back from a shot of the moon and then widens to unveil the new version of Twitter.

It will now display tweets in two columns. Much more reminiscent of an email client than of the boxy, lifeless list of thoughts and statements it is today… or was.

I don’t know it for sure yet, but it appears to be built in HTML5, which will make it compatible with iPhone and iPad devices. Obviously a very smart move.
